The rules (parliamentary authority) that Lone Star Mensa operates under consist of the following:
- The American Mensa Constitution
- The American Mensa Articles of Incorporation
- The American Mensa Bylaws
- The American Mensa Actions Still in Effect (ASIEs)
- The Lonestar Mensa Bylaws and Charter
- Robert's Rules of Order, Newly Revised. 10th edition, 2000, Da Capo Press
- The Lonestar Mensa Special and Standing Rules, which modify and expand upon the preceding sources
Once passed by the Lone Star Mensa Board of Officers, special and standing rules are maintained as Lonestar Mensa Actions Still in Effect (ASIEs).
